Title: Sowing and Reaping - A Principle to Live By   Send to a Friend
Date: 07/01/2006

Friends,

Welcome to another addition of Women of Wisdom's (W.O.W) e-letter! W.O.W's mission is to encourage you to live the divine purpose for your life! Expect to see a W.O.W. e-letter monthly and be sure to pass them on to your friends.

2nd Edition, Volume 2, Demi #27

There are so many great business principles in the Bible.  Principles that teach us about leadership, service, building relationships, fair dealing, and the list goes on and on.  Because this is true, I am beginning to look at these principles with new eyes as I manage my own business.

For example, yesterday, I read a passage of scripture that reinforced how to grow a business.  It said, “they sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest; He blessed them and their numbers greatly increased, and He did not let their herds diminish.” (Psalm 107:37-38)

At first glance, you may be tempted to ask “what do vineyards and herds have to do with running a business?”  To my way of thinking – a lot!  The principle of sowing and reaping is a core business principle.  It is also a core life principle.  You’ve heard it said – “you will only get out of it what you put into it”.

This is true in business, in relationships, and in any worthwhile endeavor.  If I sow my time, money, talent, and creativity into my business – I should expect a harvest that produces more business and more opportunities to serve my clients.  But a factor that I wouldn’t want you to miss is the role God plays in all of this.  Notice it says, “He blessed them…He did not let their herds diminish.”

Naturally this means that we must first do our part – sowing, planting, watering; but the increase comes from God.  Just as He plays a role in the universal concept of sowing and reaping in nature, the same is true as we apply this principle to our businesses and other endeavors.  We must roll up our sleeves and work hard, but it is God that provides the increase in our clients, the favor given to our products, and the boost to our sales.  Anyone who really believes that they did it all themselves, have merely fooled themselves into believing they have control over their own heart beat and are the supplier of the air that they breathe.

As you begin to plan your day, don’t only focus on the hard work ahead but get energized thinking of the reward that is sure to come when you do all that you can in the ‘natural’ trusting God to produce ‘supernatural’ results!

Be Blessed!

Mary
