Title: No More Window Shopping   Send to a Friend
Date: 02/01/2007

Friends,

Welcome to another addition of Women of Wisdom's (W.O.W) e-letter! W.O.W's mission is to encourage you to live the divine purpose for your life! Expect to see a W.O.W. e-letter monthly and be sure to pass them on to your friends.

3rd Edition, Volume 3, Demi #34

Like most women, I love to shop for new things!  Actually, I like shopping for old things too.  I especially love shopping online because I can shop from the comfort of my home with my fluffy slippers on.  Whether it is to buy something to adorn my home, or for a loved one or something just for me, it’s always fun to shop!  However, I have never been very fond of window shopping.  You know that practice of going to the mall just to look?  I’ve never quite understood that concept.  I mean, what’s the point of shopping if you are not going to buy anything?  To me that would be the equivalent of going fishing with no goal of catching a fish.  Any self respecting fisherman gets on their boat with the idea that they are coming home with some fish.  So when I go shopping, I intend to come home with something!

And yet many times we approach God’s word as though we are on a window shopping trip.  We see a powerful verse in the scripture such as, “Treat others as you would like to be treated” and we think, “Isn’t that a lovely verse, so powerful and so right.”  Or we may read, “Love others as I have loved you” and we think “I wish everyone would do that.”  We go shopping through the Bible, looking at all the pretty verses and commenting on their goodness and rightness but never ‘buying’ any of them into our lives.

Wouldn’t it be something if we got serious about our shopping trip through the Bible?  What would happen if we determined that we wouldn’t come home the same way we left?  What if we ‘bought’ something in God’s word just for ourselves and allowed it to change our lives?

The truth is, when we walk through the pages of scripture without applying anything that we read to our lives, we’ve just gone on a window shopping trip.  If you’re like me, you’re still trying to figure out what’s the fun of that?

God invites us on a shopping trip designed specifically for us.  Everything there was designed with us in mind.  Everything is just our size and shows off our figures better than anything we’ve ever worn.  It is all in the color we love.  And we look fabulous wearing it!

Where can we find this amazing place?  In the pages of His word – the Bible!

Remember, no more window shopping!  Let’s shop until we drop and let’s bring it all home!

Be Blessed!

Mary
